Job Description

 

¨  Position Title:  Quality Engineer ¨ Automotive Seating

Main Purpose of the Job : 

Summary

 

 Develop and implements process controls/PFEMA’s and advanced quality planning support to provide acceptable products/services to plant on a consistent basis.  Supports and drives continual quality initiatives to support a Stop at Defect/Zero PPM’s shop culture.  Should be an engineering college degree professional with a minimum of 5 years prior engineering experience.

 

General

Main Duties/Activities:

¨ Comply with company policies and procedures.

¨ Operate in a safe manner and report all safety hazards and accidents.

¨ Support TS1649 program and ensure all issues are corrected and submitted to coordinator in a timely maner.

¨ Drive improvement on supplier quality to reduce RPPM’s to less than 80.

¨ Review/approve/disapprove part and material deviation requests.

¨ Performs SQE and layered quality system and process audits as needed.

¨ Must teach and apply problem solving methods based on variable data and SPC concepts including process stability, process capability, and the state of control and how to react to “statistically out of control� situations.

¨ Able to read and interpret mechanical drawings, apply GD&T, initiate quality containment countermeasures, gather required

  data/sampling methods to validate QRQC closure.  .

 

 

SpecificSpecific Responsibilities

¨  Lead in APQP activities for purchased parts on new vehicle programs.

¨  Review/approve PPAP's including inspection data from confirmation layouts. This includes internal parts as well as supplier PPAP’s.

¨ Organize and manage supplier PPAP submissions for pass-through parts.

¨ Responds to Customer complaints with systematic root cause problem solving using a variety of problem solving methods &

tools to increase process capability

¨ Qualify/assist in developing/achieve certification of suppliers

¨ Maintain QRQC performance database

¨ Close supplier DMR’s within 30 days and maintain DMR values under target

¨ Improve response time in performance of corrective actions,  i.e. 24 hr initial response and completion/submittal of  8D within 10 days.

¨  Stay informed of quality issues and opportunities as relates to position and/or department.

¨ Participate in Hoshin and Continuous Improvement Events as assigned.  Submit Continuous Ideas for cost savings.

¨ Complete all other duties and tasks as assigned by management.

 

QualificationsSkills and Knowhow

¨  Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.  Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

¨ Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
