Production Manufacturing Manager
POSITION: Production Manufacturing Manager
REPORTS TO: Plant Manager DIRECT REPORTS: 17 INDIDRECT: 384
Area of Accountability:
This position will be responsible for all manufacturing operations. Primary measures of performance will be customer service, on-time delivery, lead times, manufacturing costs, degree of associate involvement, safety, quality, and housekeeping. Main areas of responsibility are management of all manufacturing, development of supervisory team, safety initiatives, and interface with the materials group. Responsibility will include developing Demand Flow Technology to eliminate waste and improve supply chain management. This position is accountable for the planning, organization, control and direction of factory operations encompassing all manufacturing and assembly activities. The responsibilities Include meeting production schedules, quality goals, creation and meeting budgetary limitations, people motivation, training, and adherence to Company policies.
Major Responsibilities:
· Manage and motivate all manufacturing associates and supervisors to achieve plant performance measures as defined by the business plan.
· Manage plant floor supervisory team to insure safety, quality and housekeeping standards are maintained. Learn and manage the details of NMHG’s policies and procedures, implement changes where necessary.
· Establish and maintain manufacturing goals (delivery, reliability, customer comments satisfaction index and lead times.)
· Recommend capacity adjustments to the Plant Manager, such as equipment, staffing levels.
· Recommend and implement technology changes and integration of processes to lower product cost.
Qualifications:
· BS required, preferably in Business, Operations, Industrial Management, or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
· MBA preferred.
· Minimum of five year’s experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a metal fabricating, machine shop, or assembly environment.
· Experience should include direct manufacturing supervision.
· Should be experienced in leading successful employee involvement efforts.
· Demonstrated competence at union avoidance and coaching/developing subordinates a definite plus.
· Should be familiar with manufacturing concepts such as Kanban, MRPII, Constraint Management, and Total Predictive Maintenance.
· Demonstrated skill in assisting the HR function a positive.
· Knowledge of OSHA and other safety regulations required; should be able to design and carry out safety programs, including training.
