JOB DESCRIPTION:  Plans and designs methods to improve efficiency in production. Assures compliance with approved methods and quality standards.  Supports both current production and new product launches.  Works in a fast paced manufacturing environment while managing multiple projects at one time.  Uses excellent communication skills to report to upper management.  Works on the production floor with various types of equipment including, but not limited to:  arc and resistance welding robots, painting robots, CNC controlled machines, stationary resistance welders, and other various assembly equipment.

 

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

1. Improve production line processes and efficiencies

2. Support daily production needs

3. Plan for new model launches for both new production lines or modifications to existing lines

4. Integrate new manufacturing processes to the plant floor

5. Develop Process Failure Effects Mode Analysis documents for risk analysis

6. Document production processes thru Parts Charts documents

7. Create standard work practices for production department

8. Implement design changes to current production processes

9. Coordinate multi-department improvement teams for production lines

10. Design error-proof techniques for quality improvement

 

COMPETENCIES:

  -Strong written and oral communication skills

  -Good teamwork skills

-Excellent knowledge of plastic material properties and their characteristics

-Experience with robotic welding (arc and resistance)

-Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and controls applications

-Understanding of PLC, sensor, and vision systems a plus

-Strong understanding of various quality and inspection standard practices

-CAD experience for both tooling design and plant layout (AutoCAD preferred)

-Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience a plus

-Microsoft Office skills

 

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:  Bachelor of Science degree in manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering or a relevant field is required.  Engineering degree is optional, but preferred.

 

TYPE OF EXPERIENCE:  Must have experience as a manufacturing, production, or process engineer working in an manufacturing environment using automated equipment.  Preference is automotive manufacturing background.  Knowledge of robot programming, welding applications, CAD design/layout, and PLC’s is preferred.

 

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 3-5

 

SALARY RANGE:  Negotiable

 

REPORTS TO:  Senior Manager of Production Engineering
