Summary: 

Responsible for the planning, coordination, and finalization of all project related procurement of material, tooling, and prototypes for the motors/electronics commodity in order to secure new customer programs with timely launch dates for the NAFTA region. The coordination and mediation between Central Purchasing  department and the Customer Teams is very important to this position.  These programs need to have the optimal cost, quality, and timing for all purchased parts that apply to a customer project (including prototypes and investment) according to the program targets.  Accomplish all project goals that apply to purchased parts with compliance of the current Purchasing guidelines. Coordinate changes regarding purchased parts from the acquisition stage to EOP.  Identify and negotiate cost reductions for early sourced programs as well as components in production for the NAFTA region for this commodity group of motors/electronics.

Position is responsible for one of Brose’s facilities in North America.

Decision making affects operations up-time, performance, and appearance. (i.e. facilities, capital equipment, etc..)

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·  Responsible for the overall commodity strategy in conjunction with Central Purchasing—number of suppliers needed in the NAFTA region for adequate capacity and price competitiveness, types of suppliers, cost reductions, and measureable goals.

·  Takes the lead for supplier selection including the investigation/nomination of prototype suppliers, especially A suppliers.

·  Provides cost and quality wise favorable quotations for required materials out of the NAFTA market.

·  Perform cost and value analysis in cooperation with other departments, centers and product teams.

·  Provides support to production in regards to change management coordination of technical changes of purchased parts and implementation of economical improvements.

·  Initiates and records cost avoidances during launch timeframe.

·  Reviewing the possibility of carrying over production parts

·  Support the Commodity Buyers in NAFTA and/or Central Purchasing  in setting target prices for at least all A-parts during the quote workshop stage

·  Defining of target prices for all motors, electronics and electromechanicals using bundling potentials in accordance with other NAFTA Purchasing NA/EK motors and electronics

·  Provide support to the Customer Team Director and Program Manager in the creation of a detailed investment concept

·  Coordination of and active attendance in price negotiations

·  Carrying out quotations in coordination with Central Purchasing

·  Initiating advanced quality planning with the customer team Quality Engineer and discussing the results with the supplier, also defining and documenting an action plan

·  Bringing a supplier decision at the decision meeting

·  Handling prototype procurement in the various development phases for on-time delivery

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering from four-year college or university; and minimum of three to four years experience in the automotive industry.
