Mechanical Design Engineer
Position Overview
The Mechanical Design Engineer will be a key team member in an aggressive product development effort to produce and commercialize next generation portable power technology. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the Mechanical Engineer will be supporting cell hardware development underlying a new battery technology.
Primary responsibilities
Design and development of lithium ion cell hardware
Plan and troubleshoot prototyping and transfer to mass production.
Manage both internal and external technical resources in a matrixed organization.
Effectively communicate results to broader teams in the US and abroad.
Specific Skills/Abilities
The position requires a solid foundation of mechanical engineering, with significant experience in the design of plastic and metal parts by processes including injection molding, stamping, coining, cold forging, drawing and extruding and other high volume manufacturing processes and extensive hands-on experience with drafting and 3D modeling of components and assemblies. The successful candidate will have individual drive and flexibility to work in a rapidly developing entrepreneurial environment, will be resourceful, have strong attention to detail and excellent interaction skills, be capable of rapidly integrating observations and results into subsequent development activities.
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
5-10 years experience required
Demonstrated expertise and success in design and development of mechanical components and assemblies for high volume production
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are also needed.
Experience in Windows based applications and ProE preferred
