POSITION TITLE: Manufacturing Manager GRADE: Salary EFFECTIVE DATE: 9/01/08 Position Statement
The position holder is responsible for the safe and efficient production of high quality products for on time delivery to our customers at or below standard cost, at the Mantua and Aurora, Ohio Plants. He/she is also responsible for maintaining Mantaline’s participative culture throughout his/her organization and through interactions with all other employee-owners. Key RelationshipsInternal Reports to the Director of Operations. Leads the Manufacturing Department personnel located at the Mantua and Aurora, Ohio Plants, Production Supervisors, Demand Planning, Shipping, and Maintenance. As a team player, interacts frequently on an operational basis with Sales and Marketing, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Maintenance and Manufacturing Department personnel. External Interacts with suppliers of material and contract services, as required. Interacts with customers at our facilities and in the field. Interacts with external training and trade organizations/consultants as required. Interacts with regulatory organizations, as required.
Responsibility/ Accountability Performance Measures
Ensures production schedule is established and executed to achieve 100%
On-time delivery.
Percent on-time delivery.
Ensures that operating personnel develop standard operating procedures and detailed process specifications for every product/process.
Compliance with TS 16949, ISO 14001 and customer-specific standards, as appropriate.
Responsible for consistent product quality, meeting customer expectations and for continuous improvement activities.
TS 16949, Mantaline Quality Procedures; RMA’s, and Financial Reports.
Responsible for the efficient operation of all processes and the optimization of production rates and downtime minimization in order to achieve production cost objectives.
Manufacturing costs within budget. Production efficiency. Progress as measured vs. annual QIP’s.
Hires, develops and promotes staff to achieve Manufacturing Department objectives within EEOC requirements.
On-time delivery. Manufacturing costs. Staff retention.
Trains and develops supervisory and operating personnel on a continuous basis with primary focus on continuous improvement, problem solving, employee participation and retention.
Employee training records. Performance reviews completed on schedule.
Practices good housekeeping at all times.
Visual appearance of plants. Safety record.
Meets or exceeds relevant OSHA and EPA regulations for Mantua and Aurora Plants.
Regulations met.
Ensures the safety of employees and security of plant assets.
Lost time accident rate.
Reviews safety, health and environmental issues monthly with the VP of Operations.
Monthly report.
Prepares an annual plan for the Mantua and Aurora Plants including operating budget, employment needs, capital budget, S,H&E concerns/actions, etc.
Timely completion of annual plan.
Key participant on the manufacturing leadership team.
Participation, effort and results.
General Requirements Ability to lift, pull, or carry 25 to 75 lbs. 40 to 70% of the time.
Skills/Talents Required Strong problem solving ability. Strong problem solving and oral communication skills. Must possess a “CAN DO” attitude.
Educational/Professional Requirements Minimum of a 4-year college degree in an engineering, manufacturing, or business related discipline and/or a minimum of 7 years of experience in manufacturing with at least five years of supervisory/managerial experience.
