We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Engineering Manager located at our Corporate Headquarters in Pompano Beach, FL. The major role of this position is to supervise individuals who develop and implement manufacturing process improvements for our Machining operations.
Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of Manufacturing Engineering and Methods departments by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Directs department activities to develop new manufacturing processes and systems, plan and manage major capital projects, and improve production processes and techniques.
Analyzes technology trends and brings new techniques, technologies, or concepts to bear to address current and future business objectives.
Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of operating and capital budget requests.
Manages key projects related to the introduction of new technologies or equipment into our operations.
Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
Collaborates with global colleagues in the Hoerbiger family to share best practices and apply them locally as appropriate.
Provides direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures related to Manufacturing Engineering activities.
Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.
Supervisory Responsibilities :
Responsible for supervising a staff of 8-12 Manufacturing Engineering and Methods personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience
Batchelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering, plus 10 to 15 years related experience in metalic machining operations (mills and lathes); or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 10 years experience in a machining environment is required, as well as a minimum of 3 years leading a professional staff. Lean or Six Sigma certifications a plus.
