Manufacturing Engineer I
SPECIAL DEVICES, INC. is a global leader in the design and manufacture of pyrotechnic devices used in the automotive industry as initiators in airbag systems and by the aerospace industry in tactical missile and space launch systems.
The company is seeking a talented Manufacturing Engineer I for our Automotive Operations to work out of our Moorpark, CA location.
This is a six month temporary position.
General Summary:
Performs engineering/technical assignments using manufacturing engineering practices and principles. Designs and implements manufacturing methods, controls, and processes that support product quality goals and objectives.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
·Provides engineering support by troubleshooting problems and effecting timely solutions to maintain the continuity of production flow.
·Designs manufacturing processes within schedule and budgetary parameters.
·Monitors and debugs new methods and procedures to ensure system efficiencies.
·Prepares reports, design concept drawings, and cost estimates.
·Reviews and implements changes to related drawings and process documentation.
·Interfaces with other departments and plants to address and resolve production engineering issues.
·Interfaces with vendors and outside sales personnel to evaluate, cost estimate, and select purchase parts.
·Responds to and supports efforts of assigned Manufacturing Process Engineers, including installation of new or revised processes and equipment.
·Works with and coordinates efforts of equipment and service providers.
Job Specifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering or a related field. A commensurate level of related experience may substitute for formal education.
· 1 year specifically related experience.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
· Working knowledge of personal computers.
· Must be able to read and understand SOPs.
· Must be able to read and understand English.
Working Conditions: (List items such as noise, temperature, lighting etc.)
Exposed to fumes and noise. Appropriate safety equipment. May work in hazardous areas. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Visually able to operate machinery and work with small parts. Move freely between buildings in a hilly environment with some unpaved roads and walkways.
