Manufacturing Engineer - Final Chassis
QUALIFICATIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSREQUIREMENTS: •Provide manufacturing support in vehicle assembly, vehicle operations, and various manufacturing processes.•Provide engineering expertise in integrating workforce, energy, equipment, systems, processes, methods, materials and facilities into a cohesive, cost-efficient and productive system. •Through concurrent engineering, identify production-related problems ahead of implementation into the plants. •Provide advanced engineering expertise and guidance on the specification, acquisition, and installation of equipment and truck components to ensure compliance with all government and safety regulations. •Troubleshoot manufacturing problems at Daimler Trucks North America’s plants as they occur. •Participate in a team of engineers in following through the design review and procurement process including budget preparation, justification, acquisition, facilities preparations, tryout, equipment installation, labor standards and training coordination for assigned projects. •Evaluate current assembly processes and assess capital investment plans for future production requirements.•Identify, analyze and recommend opportunities to reduce cost and increase efficiencies of manufacturing operations. •Apply project management skills and work closely with the production plants, parts and equipment suppliers, and contractors to coordinate projects to their completion.•Develop and maintain production labor standards.•Perform staffing and line balancing analysis using established time standards, production targets, and other constraints.•Use Industrial Engineering techniques in assisting new and existing facilities to ramp-up production.•Develop and maintain plant area layouts. •Familiarity with manufacturing procedures and product knowledge and able to combine them with basic mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering principles to optimize truck manufacturing processes.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or related technical engineering field is required. A minimum of 1 year manufacturing experience is preferred. Experience in truck assembly operations is a plus. Knowledge in capital planning and equipment procurement is preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills in English are required and some fluency in German or Spanish is a plus. Proficiency in PC MS software and CAD systems. Knowledge of CATIA, AutoCAD and /or Solid Works is preferred.
