Manager-Regional Q.C. Manager

POSITION PROFILE (Position/Department Responsibilities): -Position is responsible for the supervision, teaching, training, and development of quality control managers, assistant managers, and hourly quality control associates located in multiple Wal-Mart DC¿s. -Frequent travel to 8 to 10 Distribution Centers a minimum of three vists per year, and spending a minimum of three days at location. Other travel as required to complete field evaluations and supplier visits. -This position is responsible for the quality of perishable products according to WaI-Mart & SAM¿S Club standards. -This position is also reponsibie for the ripening and conditioning of bananas and other fruits for Wal-mart & SAM¿S Clubs. REQUIREMENTS OR QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION (Applicants must possess all of the following to be considered): 1. 3 to 5 years of Quality Control and/or management/supervisory experience required. 2. Professional, oral, and written communication skills are required. Must be able to write, read, and understand printed material and be able to communicate verbally and written with other associates. 3. Excellent leadership and human relation skills are required. 4. Must be able to count whole numbers and decimals, add, subtract, multiply, and divide, and able to use whole numbers, decimals, and fractions. 5. Must able to key data entry assignments by touch, hear, and respond grammatically on the telephone and record information and update charts or books with specific information. 6. Must be able to withstand cold temperatures and lift cases up to 80 pounds. Accurate visual acuity, sense of smell, and taste required to identify loss of freshness/quality and ripening bananas. ADDITIONAL PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (These requirements/qualiflcations are not absolutely necessary to perform the job): 1. Expert knowledge of perishable commodities. 2. USDA inspection knowledge and/or experience or related experience, as a Wal-Mart Quality Control Manager is desirable. 3. Food science background. 4. Retail, wholesale and/or foodservice experience. 5. Computer skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, and Outlook e-mail, etc. 6. Banana processing experience.
