Position: Maintenance Technician I
Reports to: Area Team Leader
Department: Purchased Services Department (P.S.D.)
Purpose: Maintenance technicians are responsible for preventative, predictive and on-line maintenance as directed by their Team Leader, Assistant Maintenance Manager and/or Maintenance Manager.
Objective: Maintain & improve the capability of machinery and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
General
Responsible for preventative and line maintenance to equipment and building facilities.Work from mechanical and/or electrical schematic, sketches manuals, specifications, and written and oral instructions.Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic.Prepare and set up equipment for production.Under minimal directions, work directly from the work orders.Perform other related activities as assigned and needed.Handle emergency work order calls.Additional technical responsibilities as assigned.Support GEMA’s cross functional teams in maintenance related Problem Solving Process, and daily activities. Maintain and improve machine up-time. Support major machine or equipment modifications. Provide all required maintenance support for machine and process activities in the production lines.Support Trenton in updating & maintaining control of all machine drawings, Work Instructions Sheets for key PM and maintenance related activities.Prepare technical detail and instructions for planned maintenance (preventative, predictive, planned corrective) and TPM activities with Trenton’s Technical Support
Specialists and the cross functional team. Create procedures and ensure the conformance of procedures and processes (ISO 9000).Facilitate communication between departments, lines and internal suppliers (external to respective area, internal to plant infrastructure).Obtain outside resources and information when technical challenges exceed internal capability. Be a proactive participant in the identification of spare parts. Participate in the hiring process for new team members as needed.Participate in supplier pre-launch activities to support Trenton by assisting with equipment run-offs, installations, qualifications, and de-bug.Technical responsibilities include, but are not limited too:MechanicalAll Machinery & Equipment - maintenance, repair, downtime, improvement, spare parts, TPM, etc.Controls responsibilities include, but are not limited too:All software – programs PLC, CNC Drives, Interlocks, automation, applications, passwords, etc.All systems – Andon, MPTS, MMIs, etc.All controls – components, repair, maintenance, TPM, PM, improvements, etc. All Automation – gantries, conveyors, pallet conveyor, robots, etc.Conduct routine audits & verifications to confirm the completion of written / documented maintenance activities to confirm Premier’s operating system is implemented and functioning according to plan and in the case of non-conformance or system failure re-establish ideal conditions or make improvements. Coordinate with Trenton production the availability of equipment and machines for planned maintenance (preventative, predictive, planned corrective). Create, update and approve Standard Work Instruction Sheets to ensure the standardization and safe performance of maintenance activities. Arrive on the job, ready to work everyday according to the work plan and schedule.

Demonstrate role model behavior for safety, integrity and ethical standards as well as portrayal behaviors consistent with Premier standards and a lean manufacturing culture.Ensure the complete safety and integrity of ALL involved parties in the work environment. Establish and maintain the 5S standard in your area.
QualityEnsure delivery of maintenance services using root cause analyses, continuous improvement, and problem solving activities through data driven scientific methods with Trenton’s cross functional teams in all facilities service related areas.Measure and ensure the department performance to Premier’s and Trenton’s SQDCM goalsMaintain Premier’s SQDCM boards with assistance from Team Members.
DeliveryAssist in the deployment of P.S.D. contracted and subcontracted services using Trenton developed Throughput Management, Top 5, Problem Solving, Lean Business System, Lean Manufacturing Production System, First Time Capability, philosophies.Participate in the development of a Lean Maintenance Operating System for P.S.D. department and all subcontractors’ activities, as requested.Participate with plant personnel in supplier equipment “buy-off” activities as required.Provide on site services in accordance with the procedures and policies as outlined in the Premier System. Access to the Premier System is provided on the Premier Lotus Notes system.Escalate issues and problems up to your Team Leader when appropriate.
CostActively drive out waste from all P.S.D. activities through the use of the Trenton lean manufacturing production system.Be a student and teacher of the Trenton lean manufacturing production system.Provide services using most economical approach available. Support and advocate the lean production system, to eliminate waste.
MoraleCreate a work environment in all service areas which supports Trenton’s lean manufacturing culture and positive employee morale. Maintain the team morale and promote activities for team building.
EnvironmentEnsure all work performed comply with environmental regulations within the Trenton facility.
Position Requirements:High school diploma2 year technical degree in the mechanical or electrical field 2-3 years experience in industrial maintenance preferably in the auto industry Strong electrical and/or mechanical backgroundEquipment troubleshooting experience
Physical Requirements:

The employee is also required to talk and/or hear in an industrial setting (noise level is moderate). The employee is frequently required to stand and walk on concrete surface from 4-8 hours. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
