Purpose of Position: Support organization in understanding manufacturing costs, revising cost allocation methods in connection with state of business and business strategy. Maintain standard costing system. Oversee plant finance personnel at three manufacturing plants. Work with process engineering, plants and marketing group to accurately quote cost on new programs. Special projects. I:  Key Responsibilities: 30% Prepare costs for quoting activity 20% Maintain standard cost system 15% Assist with budget and forecast preparation 15% Oversee plant finance group / understanding plant variances 10% Development of standard direct labor and overhead rates for standard cost development 10% Special projects   II. Relationships: Position reports directly to Controller One direct report Interacts with multiple levels / positions in sales, marketing, finance, manufacturing, and engineering No external relationships   III.  Measures of Performance: Understands plant operations and products and can apply knowledge to costing, forecasting and budgeting processes. Aware of situations or changes in the business and reflects in overhead rates / forecasts, etc. Takes a stand on costing theory and what is appropriate for the business and can support position. Works well with all departments - encourages exchange of information. Prepares accurate standard cost of all products. Updates overhead rates that reflect current business environment and considers product portfolio strategy. Development of contribution margin costing. Obtains root-cause explanation for variances. Organized and completes analysis and reports on time.   IV. Background and Skills: Education: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, concentration in accounting / finance.   Knowledge requirements: cost accounting, general accounting and financial reporting. Forecasting, spreadsheet and database. SAP experience a plus.   Skills: analytical and problem solving, strong oral and written communications skills, organization skills Experience: 10 years experience in progressive accounting positions, extensive cost accounting experience for a large manufacturing company. Previous plant controller, cost manager roles.
