Health & Safety Technician

·Develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate safety training and safety programs and policies for all employees. ·Handle Workers Compensation issues. Work closely with the provider and represent the company at hearings. ·Track accidents, accident investigations and 'fixes'. Maintain accident records; report monthly safety statistics vs. goals·Perform air and noise monitoring of the plant environment on a routine or as requested basis·Serve on the Plant Safety Committee and serve as the Emergency Coordinator. ·Maintain the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) system. ·Provide monthly Safety reports and Safety meetings. Provide annual reports to Federal OSHA. ·Work with the Medical Department on maintaining the OSHA log. ·Environmental Compliance would be a plus: Be familiar with storm water (SPCC Compliance), air (SARA Title III), waste management (RCRA), water treatment (Certified Level I operator) and recycling program management.·Self-motivating - have ability to work unsupervised.·Experience in a unionized, industrial setting.·Effective written, organizational and oral communication skills; be as comfortable chairing plant staff/safety meetings, as giving safety training to employees, or talking individually with employees who have safety issues or concerns. ·Ability to motivate and work with people.Develop, implement, coordinate and evaluate safety training and safety programs and policies for all employees.
