Field Engineer

POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for repair and maintenance of equipment for vehicle emission testing stations.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform routine diagnostics, calibration, preventive maintenance and repair of emission analyzers, and other lane systems following set schedules and procedures.

Test and calibrate equipment.

Interface with subcontractor representatives in repair and maintenance of equipment.

Assist in maintenance and repair of other company facility and electronic systems such as alarm, plumbing, telephone and computer peripheral systems.

Perform scheduled maintenance on buildings and fixtures. Complete necessary paperwork; report on assigned work and assist in the completion of records, reports, and other documents.

Perform preventive maintenance tasks as assigned, and complete all required calibration documentation.

Troubleshoot equipment and analyze appropriate documents to determine cause of malfunctions in test equipment and facility equipment.

Provide support to Illinois Environmental Protections Agency audit teams, as needed.

Perform other tasks as required by the Technical Support Manager.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Manual dexterity to perform tasks with small hand tools.

Able to stoop, bend, reach and climb.

Able to work before and after business hours.

Knowledge of computers, peripherals, data communication, OBD II, 12 volt systems, pneumatics or HVAC is a plus.

Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

Able to lift up to 80 pounds.

 

  EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s Degree or certificate in Electronics, Industrial Plant Maintenance or equivalent work experience.

Must be familiar with test equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters and other types of test equipment.

Working knowledge of mechanical assemblies.

Good driving record and valid Illinois driver’s license.
