Honeywell Sensing & Control is seeking a talented, motivated Design Engineer to be a part of our growing Test & Measurement business in Columbus, Ohio.
Sensing and Control (S&C) is a $900-million global strategic business of Honeywell International, Inc. S&C is one of the world's leading suppliers of sensors, switches, machine safeguarding and other devices for a variety of Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) applications in the aviation, medical, information technology, consumer appliance, transportation and industrial markets.
This position will support engineering design and strategic platform development initiatives for S&C's Sensotec and Lebow product lines. The successful candidate will become part of a fast-paced, multi-discipline new product development engineering team, in a challenging position that will enable significant growth of new load cell, torque, pressure and other sensor products in a high mix/low volume Test & Measurement products market segment.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
· Develop and select best concepts, create design sensor packaging and implement products into production
· Create robust mechanical designs that meet detailed customer specifications in a time-sensitive environment
· Develop load cell, torque & pressure sensor designs, and processes when required, utilizing a 5-phase new product introduction (NPI) process
· Conduct detailed design of experiments (DOE) analyses, and perform design and process validation testing using appropriate design for six-sigma (DFSS) tools and methods
· Work effectively with internal and external modeling/simulation, and electrical design resources
· Complete objectives on schedule and meet financial, performance, quality and reliability expectations
· Create mechanical models and tolerance analysis to simulate various concepts
· Produce mechanical design documentation for parts, assemblies and finished products for various audiences, including customers, factory/production operators and vendors as required
· Collaborate with peers to create validation test plans and provide to evaluation engineering dept on time to meet testing schedules
· Effectively interact as necessary with customers, sales, marketing, factory and engineering peers and other internal/external stakeholders
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or higherMinimum of 1 year prior work experience as a mechanical engineerMust have demonstrated capability in Solid ModelingMust meet US government requirements for working with ITAR-restricted products Additional Qualifications:
Experience using Pro/Engineer or similar application desiredProficiency in maintaining product documentation databasesExcellent oral and written communications skillsAbility to effectively prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environmentAbility to thrive in a change-oriented, results driven cultureProficiency in MicroSoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
