Job Summary: The Cost Accounting position works with Tri-Con clients in the U.S. and in Japan. The majority of the customer base is Japanese-owned and many of the contact people speak Japanese, so knowledge of the language is essential. Helps track the cost and profitability of the seats being manufactured. Other duties include but are not limited to providing clerical and administrative support to the business planning department.
Job Duties and responsibilities:
ÿ Estimate cost and price for all new products and service parts, and submit quotations to clients
ÿ Gathers information and develops Excel spreadsheets to track and inform the business planning department of departmental operations, performance, projects and status.
ÿ Sales and customer service to major clients
ÿ Oversee the estimation processes and procedures
ÿ Report product profitability for a new potential product to top management including a break-even point analysis between the sales and fixed/variable costs.
ÿ Review the material usage variance (inventory variance), purchase price variance, direct labor rate variance, overhead rate variance and provide reports specifying and comparing key factors affecting price and profitability of products on a monthly basis
ÿ Manage applications of cost accounting principles to conduct studies, which provide detailed cost information
ÿ Calculate labor rates for each department and work cell, and various overhead rates annually
ÿ Report the profitability of each product (over 100 finished goods) to top management on a monthly basis
ÿÿ Support the cost accounting unification project for the entire TS-Tech organization as a project leader
ÿ Provides translation of documents and letters from Japanese to English or English to Japanese.
ÿ Occasional travel to other sites in the U.S., or to the home office in Japan.
Qualifications:
ÿ Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration.
ÿ Must be fluent in Japanese and English both oral and written.
ÿ Must possess knowledge of Microsoft Office with proficient skills in Excel, Power Point, and Word.
