Do you have Oracle experience and would like to become an APEX expert? Cummins Northwest’s Custom Reporting group has an immediate opening for a dynamic, flexible, quick-learning, Oracle-experienced programmer to develop and support an end-user reporting system using Oracle Application Express (APEX). The small and nimble Custom Reporting group is responsible for supporting a robust client-server reporting system (600+ reports) used by 15 of the 16 Cummins distributors in the United States and Canada (nearly 2000 users!) We follow our own method of agile development, sometimes updating the production reporting system several times in one week; at other times, perhaps only twice a month – depending on the projects. Now, we’re taking the reporting to the next level and we’re looking for a candidate ready for the experience and excited to take on the challenge. The chosen candidate will install, architect and become the primary owner of the APEX-based reporting system. Besides developing new reports, they will transition/migrate existing Microsoft Access Pass through queries (Oracle SQL code) and expand the functionality to allow for charts & drill-downs, dashboards & scorecards. The qualified individual will also write, test and debug supporting Oracle SQL & PL/SQL code. Since this position is within a small group, learning and doing something new is a daily, if not hourly experience! From server maintenance to database administration; from documentation to debugging legacy code, we do it all! If you don’t know it, we’ll teach you or we’ll learn as a group – whatever it takes. Minimum Qualifications· BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field OR four (4) years experience· 2 years experience in writing, testing and debugging Oracle SQL & PL/SQL code· Quick learner with a constant desire to improve existing methods and algorithms· Self motivated with great attention to detail· Experience with at least two of the following Internet development languages: HTML, ASP, PHP, AJAX, &/or Javascript· Proven, consistent (written and verbal) communication skills – able to communicate easily with people of various levels of technical expertise (new computer users – DBAs, CFO’s – receptionists)· Extensive experience using Microsoft Office applications (specifically, Word, Excel & Access) Additional, Desired Qualities & Experience· Working, current knowledge and experience with the Cummins Business Management System (BMS) and related business processes· Current experience with Quest Software’s TOAD product· Experience with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) – specifically for Microsoft Access and Excel· Experience using Microsoft Access (97, 2002, 2003) – especially pass through queries· Experience with Oracle Application Express (APEX)· Experience monitoring and administering Windows Server 2000 and 2003 operating systems· Remote server Administration using Remote Desktop Connection or VNC· Database Administration experience · Experience with ODBC with client/server applications· Experience performing data analysis and then relating findings to business users via written communication This position may require occasional early/late days or weekends, as well as be on-call 24/7 on occasional days.
