The Auto Parts Group, a $200+ million, fast-growing division of Schnitzer Steel Industries, Inc., is seeking a Store Manager in Merced.  Schnitzer is a 100 year old publicly traded company with revenues in excess of $1.5 billion.  The Auto Parts Group is a fast growing division within Schnitzer that is focused on consolidating the highly fragmented recycled auto parts market.  The Auto Parts Group consists of two operating divisions, Pick-n-Pull Auto Dismantlers and GreenLeaf Auto Recyclers, our self-service and full-service auto and truck dismantling division respectively. 

 

The Store Manager leads the store to success through goal achievement in all phases of store operation, including personnel matters, sales, core program, and customer care. The Store manager ensures that their assigned store operates in an effective and efficient manner and that operational support is provided within the guidelines of the administrative policies and procedures.  Responsible for monitoring all store functions from sales through production to conform to all company policies.   

 

This position reports to the Area Manager and supervises other store management and staff.

 

So, what will it take to be successful?

 

§ 5 years combined retail management experience

 

§ Minimum education requirement is high school or equivalent; college education a plus

 

§ A love of cars! Automotive/parts industry experience and/or knowledge is a big advantage

 

§ Must have experience recruiting, hiring, training, motivating, developing, evaluating, coaching, disciplining and terminating employees

 

§ Able and willing to work retail hours, including overtime, weekends and holidays at any store assigned by management within a reasonable distance from home store

 

§ Good people skills, outgoing, friendly, positive attitude; able to communicate with customers, vendors and the general public in a professional manner

 

§ Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills; must be able to handle multiple competing tasks and priorities

 

§ Must have critical thinking skills and self-confidence; willingness and ability to make and stand by decisions

 

§ Able to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions in English; ability to read, write, & speak Spanish desired

 

§ Must have demonstrated math, reading, and writing skills to reconcile sales, prepare reports, and read technical manuals

 

§ Perform quality work efficiently with minimal supervision

 

§ Understand, demonstrate and enforce all environmental, health and safety practices and procedures at the store

 

§ Must have valid Driver's License, good driving record and reliable transportation
