Auto Body Shop General Manager- Houston

The General Manager manages a multi million dollar retail store in the auto repair industry. Responsible for all aspects of the store including but not limited to expenses, overall profit, staff and customer experience. The GM is supported by an Office Manager who leads the customer service, administrative and bookkeeping efforts of the front office staff.
The GM,
• Leads the store to profitability while achieving the highest quality repairs and exceeding customer expectations
• Interacts with Insurance Companies and Vendors
• Performs quality checks throughout the repair process
• Leads, teaches, coaches and mentors in a fast paced environment, following performance management processes
• Prepares business strategies to meet budget and operational goals
• Recommends and implements process improvement
• Drives housekeeping and organization
• Ensures safety compliance
• Fosters positive morale and teamwork
• Manages staffing levels
• Attracts, selects, develops and retains key talent
• Trains the Sterling process to all employees
• Ensures employees obtain required training, certifications or licensing
• Maintains I-Car Gold status
• Ensures repairs meet Original Equipment Mfg (OEM) specifications
• Drives Positive Customer Experience
• Active involvement in process improvement and problem solving
• Maximizes efficiencies and productivity levels
Required Skills:
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• College or Technical Training a plus
• 5-7 years applicable experience
• Valid driver’s license required
• Proven supervisory experience
• Candidate interviewing experience
• Strong organizational skills, time management and negotiation skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks
• Energetic, innovative, self-motivated and dependable
• Quality driven with attention to detail
• Excellent telephone, oral and written communication skills
• Always display high level of integrity and a “can do” attitude
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Full understanding of estimating systems
• Understanding of:
general accounting and financial management systemsoperating practices and the economics for a successful storehuman resource management policies and practices, including compliance with all applicable federal, state and local employment related regulationssafety policies and practicesthe principles of Inventory Management
• Strong presentation skills, able to lead meetings
Our stores average three to five million dollars in sales annually with 20 to 25 employees. While the day-to-day focus is on managing production, our General Managers are also encouraged to become a positive community influence, actively participating in local civic organizations and arranging for Sterling to sponsor a number of local youth activities.
Our ideal individual will have a combination of 5–7 years of hands on management experience preferably in the auto collision industry/retail management areas; with an emphasis on financial and statement interpretation. Candidate must have excellent communication skills, be able to motivate and inspire his employees, and ensure that company's policies and procedures are consistently followed. A college degree is preferred.
Our General Managers are required to participate in training sessions tailored for leadership positions in the company, including both locally taught sessions as well as multiple day sessions requiring travel and overnight stay. As with all Sterling management, compensation is a combination of salary, near and long term performance based bonuses, on company wide results.
