Applications Engineer

API Heat Transfer provides application solutions in the Compressor, Air Dryer, Air Separation Process, Power, General Industry, Off-Highway, Truck & Bus, Food & Beverage and Refrigeration markets. Our heat exchanger designs include standard shell & tube, custom shell & tube, extended surface plate fin, plate & frame, brazed plate, welded plate, semi-welded plate and brazed aluminum bar & plate.

Job ID: SAE-A-03-2008 Summary: Support Customer requests for quotations through thermal application engineering, specification review, equipment costing, price build-up, and quote preparation processes. The ability to travel to customer locations as necessary, including overnight and/or weekend travel will be required.
Duties may include, but are not limited to:
Design
1. Determine and define customer requirements.
2. Make recommendations for improvement when available.
3. Provide thermal and structural design of heat exchangers based on customer requirements and established practices.
Quotations
4. Based on design, estimate heat exchanger cost using established practices.
5. Calculate customer price based on established practices.
6. Provide quotation to customer which clearly defines equipment.
7. Specify areas where customer requirements are not met.
8. Maintain quotation log.
Account Maintenance
9. Monitor and address potential problems with regards to quality and service.
10. Interface between Customer and /or Sales Representative and Airtech Departments
11. Customer visits as required.
12. Follow-up on quotations as needed.
13. Monitor progress of prototypes provided.
Order Entry
14. Review purchase orders and resolve any conflicts.
15. Enter prototype orders with adequate information provided for Engineering Department to create prints.
16. Rectify conflicts with regards to potential delivery problems.
17. Other duties as required by management. Skills/Requirements:
Required:
· Minimum B.S. Mechanical Engineer or Chemical Engineer with thermal dynamics or heat transfer knowledge, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
· Strong problem solving abilities
· Ability to multi-task
Desired:
· Heat Transfer background preferred.
