Tractor/Trailer Full-Service Shop Foreman

 

We seek an ambitious, experienced and motivated leader to manage the truck fleet maintenance team in our Midwest location.  We need a team-builder and team-player; a true “people-personâ€� with strong technical capabilities. Honesty, dependability and expense management are three key factors in the successful candidate for this position.

 

Position Overview:

Responsible for the productive and profitable management of a full service tractor/trailer shop; including the supervision of all associated Mechanics. Knowledge of Diesel Engines, CAT, Cummins, Detroit and International along with all truck Maintence and repair areas,

 

Responsibilities:

· Ensure safe working conditions and practices.

· Handle customer telephone, e-mail, or fax inquiries.

· Prepare all repair quotes.

· Assign labor resources to repairs according to the skills and abilities of the technicians available.

· Schedule jobs according to shop space and resources available.

· Ensure accuracy and completeness of repairs.

· Ensure smooth and profitable Service Department operations.

· Provide labor resource training, safety and discipline measures.

· Ensure shop equipment and tools are properly utilized and maintained.

· Ensure security of building, property and tooling.

· Maintain quality control to achieve customer satisfaction goals.

 

Operational Functions:

· Plan and conduct weekly safety meetings.

· Conduct monthly facility safety inspections.

· Ensure good housekeeping in shop and yard.

· Ensure repairs comply with all Local, State and Federal guidelines

· Document work order authorizations as specified by company policy.

· Assist other Shop Foremen and Diesel Mechanics as requested by Company management.

· Schedule shop work force and oversee all shop operations.

· Resolve disputes at the shop level and advise Branch Manager of problems that cannot be resolved.

· Review and sign all time cards.

· Review Work in Process on timely basis.

· Review all work orders for closing.

· Schedule training for Diesel Mechanics.

The Foreman must have experience in diesel tractor/trailer and truck maintenance and repair, follow-up, safety, DOT equipment inspections, and paperwork completion. 

 

Other Minimum Requirements

· Previous management experience with regard to the financial end of running a shop (budgets, P&L, etc).

· Very comfortable with vehicle inspections and DOT law.

· PC proficiency.

· Strong organizational skills.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Requires High School diploma.

· Past experience as a Diesel mechanic.

 

 Candidates must have a CDL license.
