Job Title: Tool (Mold/Die Design) Tech III

Requisition Number: 161812

Location: Ft Worth, TX 76248

 

Responsibilities:

 - Provide production maintenance and changeover support on plastic injection molds utilizing departmental procedures and processes.

- Incorporate engineering requested tooling modifications by utilizing precision machine shop equipment to modify or manufacture new mold inserts.

- Perform complex mold layouts as required to analyze problematic tools.  Must be able to measure and inspect components within micron tolerances.

- Support mold development in the qualification of new tooling.

- Assist with project support by performing quotation and lead time data for customer requested tooling changes.

- Support continued improvement and growth by participating in departmental / plant goals and objectives.

- Delivers actionable mold making methods in a cost effective manner.

- Analyzes data on a problem-to-solution level.

- Focuses on increasing efficiency, raising productivity, and reducing costs.

- Must work well independently or in team environments.

- Execute and track the purchase of hardware, components, and spare tooling from vendors.

Required Education(minimum required for consideration):

Two year associate degree in Tooling Technology or Equivalent.

 

Required Years and Area of Experience(minimum required for consideration):

Minimum of five years mold making experience in a tight tolerance, high volume manufacturing environment.

 

Required Skills:

1. Ability to setup and operate CNC milling and EDM machinery.

2. Excellent verbal and technical writing skills.

3. Excellent project, organizational and time management skills.

4. Knowledge and skill to effectively and efficiently disassemble, clean, troubleshoot, repair and assemble molds.

5. Ability to measure complete dimensional mold-tooling stack out (static and dynamic) to determine tooling component preloads, clearances.

6. Can determine best methods/procedures to determine probable causes of mold/part defects, as well as corrective and preventative actions.

7. Strong understanding of plastics processing requirements for molds, such as venting, heating, cooling, polishing; nozzle, sprue, and runner configurations; steel plating applications or requirements.

 

Bonus Skills:

1. Utilize Pro/E Wildfire and Mastercam software to manufacture precision components.

2. Ability to setup, program and operate wire EDM machinery.

3. Welding and/or micro-welding.

4. Hot runner experience with various styles.

5. Mold design or building experience.
