Senior Engineering Assistant

Under minimal supervision of a Principle, Senior or Test Engineer.  Primarily, troubleshoots, operates, maintains, repairs, and calibrates emissions analysis equipment.  Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electronics problems including the engine controls and stand instrumentation.

 1. Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots exhaust emissions analysis equipment, engine control equipment and test cell instrumentation.

2. Performs emissions analysis equipment calibrations and system verifications.

3. Analyzes test results for conformity to emissions test requirements.

4. Assist in various mechanical installations (equipment, test articles, etc.)

5. Confers with project personnel to provide technical problem solving assistance.

6. Maintains adequate test supplies, including emission bench gases.

7. Responsible for complying with departmental ISO procedures.

8. Occasional interface with external customers relative to result and status reporting.

 

Requires a minimum of four years general electronic experience.  Experience with operation of an engine dynamometer test stand is desired.  At least 3 years experience with engine electronic and mechanical diagnostics.  Test cell diagnostic/ instrumentation experience is a plus.  Experience with operation and maintenance of exhaust emissions test equipment highly desired. High school education or equivalent required.
