Manager, Inventory Control

Position SummaryThe Inventory Control Manager’s primary objective is to minimize MNAO’s inventory levels and operational costs while achieving industry-leading parts availability performance in support of increased customer service retention. The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for managing the Inventory Control Team personnel and leading all Inventory Control Team activities including: implementation of obsolescence policies, scrap functions, recall and service bulletin parts inventory planning, MNAO vendor claims management, Inventory Department audit responsibilities, Inventory Department metrics management, and Inventory Department strategic planning.This position is responsible for leading key initiatives and managing the Inventory Control Team to drive improvements in MNAO profitability and customer satisfaction through process improvement and implementation of lean principles. This position is the primary interface with Caterpillar Logistics Services (CLS) and is responsible for resolving systems or cross-functional operational issues and implementing sustainable corrective actions. Furthermore, this position will be the focal point of accountability for improved inventory turns and inventory reduction strategies.Essential Duties • Act as primary interface with Caterpillar Logistics regarding inventory related activities and drive process and system improvements to achieve improved customer satisfaction and higher inventory turns. • Lead and direct Inventory Control personnel to fulfill all obsolescence and scrap policy requirements and fulfill all other responsibilities related to inventory reduction and excess inventory prevention. • Lead and direct Inventory Planning personnel to improve inventory turns for Recall/Service Bulletin parts through implementation of benchmarking and process improvement projects. • Lead and direct Vendor Claims and Inventory Quality Control personnel to improve operational efficiency and cycle time performance through implementation of process improvements. • Establish short-term and longer-term target inventory stocking levels and develop inventory initiatives to improve MNAO’s profitability while providing industry-leading parts availability to dealers. • Lead and direct Inventory Department KPI metrics management personnel, which includes, management of systems, databases, and root cause analysis to support financial reporting, audit requirements, and overall inventory continuous improvement. • Re-allocate resources to support changing business needs. • Motivate, coach, and evaluate staff to ensure achievement of department objectives. Responsibilities include: o Establish performance targets o Ensure accountability across team o Continuously measure and monitor employee performance o Reward employees appropriate for performance Qualifications:Experience 8 or more yearsTraining/Certification Supply Chain Management and/or Logistics Training - preferred APICs certification preferredKnowledge/Skills/Abilities• Minimum of 3 years - Staff Management experience required. • Strong written and oral communication skills required • Strong problem solving and analytical skills required • Thorough understanding of Supply Chain and Inventory Management fundamentals is required. • Extensive knowledge of Inventory Management systems is preferred • Experience managing 3rd party Supply Chain/Inventory Management services is preferred • MS Office experience required
