The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company currently has an opening for a Global Buyer at its corporate headquarters in Akron, Ohio.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
1. Negotiates with existing supply base in the area of assigned indirect materials by applying the appropriate strategies and available procurement tools for global and Corporate demand requirements.
2. Identifies business requirements and develops market/industry assessments to prioritize opportunities and quantify potential benefits that will result from sourcing and negotiations of indirect spend categories.
3. Develops sourcing and negotiation strategies consistent with business requirements and market trends to maximize the value achieved under the agreement between Goodyear and the suppliers).
4. Analyses results from market research,potential demand aggregation, and alternate buying strategies in the area of assigned indirect materials to exercise maximum influence upon suppliers and to implement the appropriate leverage to the negotiation opportunities where current price reduction or cost avoidance is achievable.
5. Effective, in conjunction with the Purchasing Areas and Corporate Functions in facilitating the implementation of negotiated agreements and managing supplier relationships in accordance with formal performance metrics.


Position Responsibilities
1. Contribute to Goodyear's EBIT/cash flow objectives through effective negotiation of requirements' by aggregation of demand and supplier consolidation within Goodyear and with Dunlop/SRI on a global basis. Analyze data to develop the appropriate sourcing and negotiating strategies that will maximize the savings opportunities.
2. Serve in consulting role for the development of global strategies and plans for supplier consolidation with SBU /Functional goals and objectives. Through cross-functional involvement, manage the process for selecting the preferred suppliers on a global basis. Facilitate the supplier selection by collaborating with SBU /Functions.
3. Drive the development and utilization of the supplier consolidation and re-negotiation processes to realize maximum savings in the area of indirects for global demand requirements. Jointly through the Regional Councils, develop and manage a process to select preferred suppliers and prioritize supplier consolidation requirements on a global basis.
4. Develop and implement key performance metrics as a part of the negotiation process and implement those metrics as a part of the formal agreement. Maintain the supplier relationship and performance history to support future sourcing and negotiating efforts.
5. Develop plans and negotiation strategies on a global basis. Analyze the market relevant data as well as the supplier databases to prioritize the negotiating activities.


Qualifications:
Required-

- Four year or higher level technical degree
- Experience using Excel and Word
- Two or more years experience in a commercial setting, experience working on or leading a project team, project management training or experience, experience analyzing data and making recommendations

Preferred-
MBA or coursework related to supply chain, procurement and/or finance
