The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company is currently seeking a qualified individual to join our Global Engineering & Manufacturing Technology department at our corporate headquarters in Akron, Ohio, as an Electrical Engineer. This department has the responsibility for inventing, designing and delivering product and process technologies to make Goodyear's Business Strategies achievable. The department engineers and integrates new technologies to support new products and increased manufacturing capability, and provides direct and timely support to plant production, engineering, maintenance and energy conservation.
If you are a highly motivated self-starter with the ability and desire to complete capital project commitments, this could be the Engineering opportunity you've always wanted! If selected, you will primarily be responsible for the electrical design, development and installation of automation systems for tire assembly machinery. This machinery includes that required for construction of passenger, truck and off-the-road tires, as well as all elements of automation and control systems used to produce tire assembly equipment including Programmable Controllers, Servo Controls, Pneumatics, Embedded Computer applications, Robotics and AGVs. Projects will require hardware and software design, testing and installation for all plants globally.
To be considered, you must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to work well within a team oriented environment. This position requires approximately 10% travel, both domestically and internationally.
Qualified candidates will possess familiarity with and experience in the following areas:
* AUTO-CAD, PLCs, Drives, Software & Electrical Hardware design
* PC-based technologies, networks and web technologies
* Microsoft Windows operating systems development, configuration, administration & support
* Unix or Linux operating systems
* Database stored procedures (Oracle preferred)
* Programming languages including C/C++, Visual Studio tools, Java
* Scripting Languages (ie. VBscript, Javascript, etc) PHP Scripting Language
* IIS/ASP web design, JSP web design, VB.NET programming
* Programming in the Ethernet environment
* Web design, including servers & browsers, configuration & administration
