Department Description:
The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company's Tire-Vehicle Engineering Technology Department is responsible for:1) developing leading edge technology in various tire and/or vehicle performance areas, including testing and analysis tools for performance predictions, evaluations and optimizations; 2) applying the technology and tools to new product development and product improvement through direct application of the tools or transferring the technology to tire designer and application engineers; 3) providing support to tire development teams and OE customers for our business growth.


Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this engineer include the planning and execution of projects to develop knowledge to evaluate and improve tire wear/traction performance. The projects include developments of new testing and analysis procedures. The engineer is also responsible for working with other team members to develop both fundamental understanding of wear/traction mechanics and design guidelines that can be applied to the design process for improving tire wear/traction. The person in this role will participate in team product supporting activities that include lab testing, test data analysis, design evaluations, and problem solving.

Required-
*Minimum MS in Engineering or a BS with at least 3 years of tire design experience
*Experience in testing process and tire characteristic analysis is a plus
*Capable of developing and applying new techniques to the evaluation and improvement of tire performance in a team environment.
*Experience in numerical modeling of performance prediction using FEA
*Knowledge of rubber material properties, such as friction
*Self-motivation and excellent interpersonal skills are essential
