You will possess a strong understanding and interest in issues related to environmental sustainability within Retail Design/Interior Design; a Global, diverse, holistic design perspective; General Management Experience; Interest in global trend and its application to a lifestyle brand ; and be self managed, motivated, proactive, and passionate. This job contributes to Starbucks success by creating outstanding, holistic design solutions leading a cross functional team to deliver a successful Starbucks Customer Experience and by meeting design, cost, schedule, and operational requirements. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles. Summary of Key Responsibilities Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: Leadership - Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together: - Develop design concept. Lead design team to create and articulate clear design concept. - Work with cross functional team to ensure concept is reviewed and approved by manager. - Provide clear, effective and timely communication of design direction and changes to consultants and/or team members. Identify direction, exceptions, design solutions. Planning and Execution - Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results: - Deliver target deliverables on agreed upon timelines. - Design solutions within defined parameters of store cost targets with alignment from Construction Standards and Services and SCO. - Inform and set schedules with studio and/or project team and effectively communicate dates to design team and manager to meet all established deadlines. - Sets and maintains the professional standards required to meet business unit/department and company objectives. - Assess scope of projects through business case and discovery phase. - Responsible for development drawings and design solutions by design team on a project basis. - Manage the development and production of the final design development drawings. Review and approve drawings to ensure design intent is met. - Ensure all scope of work, business and code requirements are met. Conduct site visits as needed. Business Requirements - Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities: - Ensure alignment across cross functional teams on project or program design. - Lead design review and training for Store Planning and others as needed. - Participate in Schematic Reviews when new program has rolled or as needed. - Participate in market tours to gain cross functional understanding and visibility to unique market needs and requirements. Partner Development & Team Building - Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams: - Provide feedback for design team members to manager. - Assist manager in building bench strength for design team. - Share best practices and learnings with peers and teammates. - Provides coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve partner, business and customer results. Summary of Experience - Retail, hospitality or restaurant design or development organization including management of construction documents (5 years) - Management in a national/International company (2 years) - AutoCAD, Microstation and 3D rendering programs (5 years) - Prior experience managing outside architectural, MEP and other design consultants Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Current knowledge of industry trends in retail store and/or restaurant design - Demonstrated 3D visualization ability and working knowledge of color and design principles - Hand sketching and presentation skills - Ability to balance design, with operational needs and budget objectives resulting in exceptional store environments - Ability to execute multiple designs under tight deadlines - Skilled in the visual, written and verbal communication of design issues View all "Starbucks Coffee Company" jobs
