I. Position Purpose
You will be responsible for executing the company’s global technical standards in your group and discipline, as well as overseeing training and development programs for the company’s professionals. You will assist operational leaders by providing qualified professionals and ensuring they are adequately supervised and fully committed to meeting project deliverables and supporting appropriate team behaviors. You are responsible for ensuring technical accuracy of work in the production of construction documents for our clients. In this role, you will also create advanced engineering designs when needed and assist team members with solution development. Your primary focus will be championing the use of best practices, adherence to company standards, accuracy of construction documents, and technical discipline coordination.
In this role your key learning opportunities will include: enhancing skills for development of others in basic and advanced application of a technical discipline; gaining exposure to how best practices/standards are set and communicated; and completing specialized work on complex sections or complete projects for any client within our business offerings.
Minimum Experience
§ 4 - year Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Masters degree (preferred) from an accredited university
§ 12+ years work experience in Mechanical Engineering and working on production of construction and bid documents
§ Registered Professional, preferably with national accreditation/certification
§ 5+ years experience with staff management and resource allocation
§ 5+ years experience in project management
§ Experience working with projects for a variety of clients such as restaurant, grocery, retail, or petroleum

II. Essential Functions and Responsibilities
In addition to following WD Partners values, policies and procedures, the primary responsibilities of this position currently include, but are not limited to, the following:
Technical Leadership (40%)
§ Provide mentoring to staff for their continued development and growth
§ Evaluate technical skill development of team members and partner with appropriate resources for applying development plans and tools
§ Serve as subject matter expert in your discipline within direct team
§ Provide feedback on technical skills to the A/E Group Manager for associates’ performance reviews
Quality Standards (40%)
§ Serve as the subject matter expert in a technical field and be recognized as the authority in their discipline in resolving plan review comments
§ Plan and provide appropriate oversight for all activities within your group for the discipline
§ Execute and implement mechanical design guidelines in accordance with applicable professional standards and design procedures
§ Serve as the expert in the understanding and application of building codes and code calculations
§ Respond to problems/issues/questions received from code official, client, regional business unit team members, or owners/operators
Internal leadership (20%)
§ Coordinate all Mechanical activities within an assigned Group
§ Review all designs and documents to ensure the assure highest standards of quality and accuracy by being accountable and responsible to the QA/QC process
III. Travel, environment, and typical physical activities
The position performs work in an open workstation environment in a typical interior office, utilizing a personal computer and telephone for performing tasks and communication with internal and external contacts. Projects are conducted individually and within teams. The position may occasionally require local and/or overnight travel, via airplane or automobile, to the project location to collect data and physical site measurements.

§ Mastery of architectural/engineering principles and codes to implement quality and process improvements
§ Strong knowledge about A/E design process and specifications leading to design development and construction documents
§ Knowledgeable about impact of design on construction, cost and practicality to clients
§ Directs others in preparation of plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules and diagrams of design development and construction documents
§ Experience with complex calculations and compliance software/techniques
§ Financial acumen – able to manage people, resources, budget, utilization in a cost effective and profitable manner
§ Researches and incorporate emerging technologies into company’s business services offered
Regulatory Code Knowledge
§ Highly knowledgeable of regulations, ordinances or statutory requirements of a government unit relating to building construction and occupancy – with the ability to share and train others
§ Strong knowledge & interpretive understanding of accessibility codes
Inter-discipline Knowledge
§ High level of experience in all design discipline and coordination methods
Impact and Influence
§ Experienced in delegating tasks through clear & concise communication to team members both verbally and graphically
§ Ability to multi-task on various stages of projects while meeting specified deadlines on each project
§ Experience in working with zoning review boards and/or architectural review boards
§ Ability to guide and collaborate with project team members
