Some of thefirm’s highest profile projects include the Fountains of Bellagio and thevolcano at the Mirage in LasVegas; the BrooklynMuseum’s sweeping pavilion entrance; the Dubai Marina; and the waterdome at the Tokyo Dome Sports Stadium. Position Summary

Designers at WET have the uniqueopportunity to create an experience that is choreographed to movethrough time and space while anchored to a specificsite.

 

The company is seeking Senior Designers tobe responsible for all design aspects of assigned projects,including initial and follow up client presentations, concept design, schematicdesign, monitoring project implementation to ensure proper execution of thedesign, and on-site choreography of the water features.

 

Responsibilitiesinclude:

 

·Working with highprofile clients and other design professionals on-site, in workshops, anddesign presentations to develop and present concepts or negotiate designsolutions

 

·Collaborating withan in-house design team (illustrator, graphic designer and other designers) toproduce the project deliverables on time and within budget. Typical workloadincludes 4-8 projects at a time in the concept phase short term (4-6 weeks)

 

·After the design moves from the conceptualphase to schematics and design development, maintaining dialogue withengineering to make sure that the design integrity is being delivered

 

·Using WET’s proprietary software tochoreograph various features at the end of project. Water expressions have multiplefeatures that require designers to utilize their spatial knowledge and gesturaltalent to enliven the overall concept design. WET provides comprehensivetraining to enable designers to program their choreography

 

·Interfacing withthe clients, client’s consultants and other members of the WET Design projectteam (PM, PE & PA), regarding matters of design

 

·Supporting WETDesign’s marketing efforts by giving portfolio presentations, leadingintroductory meetings with clients and cultivating new projects

 

·Mentoring junior designers

Qualifications

Successful candidates for Senior Designer will be inspired bydesigning as part of an interdisciplinary team who is charged with doing “the neverbeen done before”.  They will have asuperior command of form, gesture and movement, as well as the ability todesign for spatial context on a massive scale.

 

·Excellent communication andpresentation skills, experience presenting to very senior business leaders andclients. Senior Designers at WET interact directly with very high profileclients to articulate and demonstrate the value of multi-million designsolutions

 

·Demonstrateddiversity of interests and passions, interest in/understanding of music and/orthe performing arts is ideal

 

·Strong hands-on designcapability (conceptual and applied) and spatial understanding

 

·Ability to respondto very aggressive schedules, meet deadlines and work on multiple projects

 

·Demonstratedsuccess working with multi-disciplinary teams

 

·Strong sketchingand freehand drawing skills

 

Requirements

 

·4-7 years ofexperience in related role at a world class architecture or design firm

 

·Degree in an areaof Architecture, Interior Design, Environmental Design orFine Art

 

·Portfolio that demonstrates strong designcapability, hand sketching and a strong spatial understanding

 

·Working knowledgeof Adobe Create Suite, AUTOCAD and Form Z; experience with 3D Studio Max and Maya is a plus

 

·Must be willing and ableto travel within the United States and overseas
