School Design Manager - Mechanical / Constructability Review

Construction Management consulting firm is seeking experienced Design Manager to work on new school construction projects with the Los Angeles Unified School District.The LAUSD expects the new construction program to continue through 2013.  Typically, Design Managers work on one ors everal projects for a period of 1-2 years, depending on project schedule. 

 

Duties: Specific position available for specialist in Mechanical and Constructability Review.Under direct supervision and as part of the new school construction Quality Assurance / Quality Control Team, perform peer review and constructability review of school designs and associated technical documentation. Ensure compliance with LAUSD Design Guide and Education Specifications. Ensure drawings promote excellent functional relationships, efficient use of construction materials,and quality design. Ensure that specialty disciplines are coordinated throughout the Construction Document Set, integrating mechanical aspects.Ensure completeness of Construction Documents to promote better construction bids through clarity and completeness of bid information. Ensure compliance with  DSA requirements and promote plan completeness to foster faster DSA review and approval. Coordinate the focus of work of the Architects and various sub-consulting engineers. Assist in Value Engineering and Cost Control studies.Provide technical expertise to Design Management team.

 

Minimum Requirements. Minimum 9 years experience in project /construction management of commercial and/or public facilities and familiarity with public contract code. Five years experience in school facility design preferred. Experience in Peer Review & Constructability Review of Construction Documents preferred. Degree in Architecture or Mechanical Engineering required. Registered Architect or Licensed Professional Engineer required due to emphasis on Design Phase for this assignment. The OSHA Occupational Safety and Health Training Course in Construction Safety &Health must be completed by all employees working and/or visiting any project site within 30 days of their start date.
