Safety ManagerThe purpose of this position is to assure construction contractor compliance of Navy safety regulations and contracts as required through NAVFAC’s Occupational Safety and Health program. Responsibilities: The incumbent services as the technical authority and expert on construction and services contractor safety and health.  The position requires on site oversight of all safety and health-related activities and requirements.  As such, he/she develops and provides guidance to and assists the Officer in Charge of Construction (OICC) office in Bethesda, MD in support of BRAC project P005V ( New Walter Reed Medical Center) in applying sound construction safety and health programs during the construction phase of facilities acquisition.   Duties Include, but are not limited to the following: 1.  Reviewing and evaluating design concepts 2.  Identifying safety and health construction and /or design deficiencies during the review of ongoing construction projects and making recommendations for correcting or changing the criteria, if applicable. 3.  Plans and develops criteria covering Occupational Safety and Health controls, and changes in techniques for safety programs.  Full Job Description at www.mbpce.com Personnel Qualifications Be a US citizen Education: Bachelors in Occupational Safety and Health from a credited university or 20 yrs. of construction exp. General Experience and knowledge of: Construction QA program;Army Corps of Engineer’s safety program A Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and 5 yrs. construction experience/ or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and 5 yrs. construction experience or 20 yrs construction safety experience. 30-hour OSHA construction safety class or equivalent within the last 5 yrs.
