General Description



 

The Product Engineer will be responsible for managing engineering projects where he/she will need to communicate data and information between our sales force and architects or engineers.  This data and information includes product application techniques, approvals, roofing knowledge and competitive information. 

 

Responsibilities



 

ü  Technical Support – To provide answers to questions from the sales force concerning the Garland products, approvals, competitive information and roofing techniques.

 

ü  Engineering Consulting – Assist in managing the Garland Engineering Services program.  The position will work on a variety of engineering projects from structural evaluations to wind uplift engineering of roof system.

 

ü  Specifications and Details – This position will require a working knowledge of construction product specifications and detailing.  This person will be required to interpret construction drawings and guide drafts people though generation of new drawings.

 

ü  Marketing Support – Assist Marketing Department in the production of new brochures, data sheets, etc. that will help the sales force in increasing their knowledge about the product line.

 

ü  Assist the sales force in solving problems that they encounter.  This may include visiting job sites for a visual inspection to make a proper assessment for a solution.

 

ü  Approvals – Have a complete understanding Building Code and product approvals from which product and project design will be developed.

 

ü  Training – To assist in training the new and seasoned members of the sales force.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

·  Experience in engineering consulting and construction materials testing.

 

·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

 

·  Four-year Engineering degree.

 

·  FE or EIT certification required.

 

·  Display a proficiency in AutoCad and spreadsheet design.

 

·  The ability to look at a particular problem and creatively think of ways to correct that problem and then rapidly implement the solution.

 

·  The willingness and eagerness to learn something new everyday.

 

·  The ability to work on your own or as a team member and follow a project from initial concept through implementation.
