We are seeking a "Project Controls Analyst" for our San Jose, CA office.Job Responsibilities:The Project Controls Analyst supports the Verizon PMO through enhancement and automation of reporting tools, analysis and data gathering related to financial reporting and analysis and general program activity tracking. The Project Control Analyst plays a key role in the planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting of fixed price and time and material contracts. Position has significant interface with project managers, financial analysts, senior technical personnel, support organizations, and senior management. Primary funcation is to automate numerous manual processes, report formatting, and methods of gathering and analyzing data through the use of report writers, Access development and programming of Excel macros. Will drive and conduct the tools automation effort across several program functional areas including financial reporting and analysis, equipment management, and resource and schedule tracking. Will also participate in the analysis of actual costs to budget at the labor category and ECO (Engineering Change Order) level. The Project Controls Analyst may also assist Project Managers to track project costs and commitments, schedule performance; monitors performance against the baseline, and participates in the preparation of written and verbal reports regarding cost and schedule variances. Perform a variety of program financial/data analysis as required. Additional Responsibilties: • Reviews all program processes, tracking and reporting function for ways to automate reporting, formatting, analysis and tracking through use of report writing tools, Access table development and writing of Excel macros.• Assists in the use of PMO methodology and tools to support schedule analysis, including the preparation of reports to indicate actual contrast costs vs. budget. Analyzes financial data for project performance.• Interface with all levels of program team to establish goals and priorties for automation. • Provides written and verbal status updates on automation tools and projects to senior management.• Analyzes problems or current methodologies and their impacts to costs and schedule.• Recommends alternative and creative solutions on a regular basis.• Requires expectional communication and organization skills as well as the abilty to think outside the box, complete diverse assignments and execute tasks with minimal supervision. • Maintains certain master files or schedules within the program.• Provides guidance, direction and specialized assistance to Senior Program Management for the resolution of difficult and complex project control-related problems.Job Qualifications:• BS/BA Business Administration or Finance• Minimum of 4-6 years experience in a project/program controls environment• Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint and Project• Excel in self-directed environment• Familiar with basic accounting principles; abilty to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.• Abilty to write coherent and succinct status/progress reports• Experience in project based financial analysis• Proven ability to develop report writing tools, write Marcos and build Access databasesWe offer competitive pay and benefits program, including: medical, dental & vision coverage, vacation & sick leave, 401(k), company health screenings and more.To apply for this position please visit our website at http://www.ascentmedia.com/careers/ Ascent Media is an Equal Opportunity Employer.Requirements:
