HVAC/Building Controls Applications Engineer

BCM Controls (an $15M, 60 employee specialty contractor) designs, installs and services integrated building automation systems in the greater Boston area.  BCM consistently delivers optimal customer based integrated systems that control all aspects of building operations such as HVAC, Lighting, Access Control, Security and CCTV.

 

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for HVAC/Building Controls Applications Engineer. This person works with the project manager, hardware engineer and construction engineer to execute successful building automation systems in commercial markets.  Responsibilities of the BAS Applications Engineer include:

 

· Develop project specific software and graphics per BCM standards.

· Develop sequences of operation and code to ensure system operates as required.

· Write, compile, test and install control applications for HVAC, Security and Integrated systems

· Gather all technical information to produce submittals

· Prepare detailed submittal drawings using Visio drawing tool per BCM Standards including but not limited to flow diagrams, network drawings, control drawings and equipment locations.

· Support the Project Manager and Construction Engineers

· Develop and provide technical training to internal staff and BCM customers

 

Measurements:  

The BAS Applications Engineer will be assigned to multiple projects working with various project teams and has the responsibility to insure all software, graphic and/or equipment submittals are ready per the project schedule requirements and the assigned budget.  Key measures of success are:

 

· Customer Satisfaction with the System

· On time performance

· Management of engineering costs to meet or improve on budget

· Process improvements recommended and implemented

 

Skills Needed: 

The BAS Applications Engineer should be well organized, detail oriented, highly motivated and a quick learner.  Knowledge of Building Automation and Controls is required.

 

· 2-4 years HVAC Applications experience, preferably with Tour Andover Controls.

· Understanding of networking, temperature controls and integrated systems.

· Able to set up PC’s, loading software onto work stations as well as servers.

· Knowledge of AutoCAD and Visio is highly desired.

· Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Access.

· Ability to work in a team environment while taking responsibility for individual tasks.

· Strong written and oral communications skills.
