Estimating/Purchasing Clerk - Residential Construction

We are a high-end design/build firm for custom single-family homes in Chicago’s Lincoln Park and Gold Coast. We are looking for an intelligent, organized individual with acumen for detail to compile information for contractor and vendor bids and to place purchase orders.

 

We require general computer literacy and proficiency in Excel, experience in AutoCAD is a plus.  Most desirable applicant will know construction terminology, how to read and interpret plans, and demonstrate a high aptitude for math and the ability to compile and analyze specifications.

We seek a professional “juggler� – someone who is an ambitious, self-starter with excellent communication and technical skills, energetic, intelligent, and enjoys working in a small company environment. The candidate must submit salary history for consideration. We offer an attractive salary for candidates with appropriate experience and qualifications.

Position will be responsible to provide cost & material estimating for design/build projects and which requires ability to multi-task and work in an occasionally fast-paced environment. Only those qualified will receive a response.

Preferred that candidates live in close, commutable proximity to downtown Chicago area and possess the flexibility to work extended hours as necessary.

Salary commensurate w/experience, etc. Medical insurance and bonuses to be individually determined.

·        Preferences

o       Prior experience as estimator or purchasing agent.

o       Experience using estimating and AutoCAD software.

o       Understanding of construction terminology, standard concepts, practices, and procedures.

o       Ability to read/interpret plans.

o       Accurately perform take-offs and compile specifications.

 

·        Requirements

o       Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.

o       Excellent math, communication, writing and organizational skills.

o       Proficient in spreadsheets.

o       Extremely detailed and highly organized.

o       Must be able to perform required work in a timely and accurate manner.

o       Good, pleasant attitude, well groomed and professional manner.

o       Manage telephone calls professionally, efficiently and with good communication skills.
