Electrical Technician - Desalination Plant

Electrical Technician with “hands-on” experience working on the installation, operation, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems on seawater reverse osmosis water treatment plants. The position requires the applicant to either be, or become, a full-time resident of Dutch Sint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. In Sint Maarten, the English language is routinely spoken and the US dollar is used as an accepted currency.

Daily tasks require the applicant to possess knowledge and ability to perform work on electrical supply, control and instrumentation systems on two reverse osmosis desalination plants capable of producing four (4) million gallons of potable water per day. A general understanding of either desalination or some comparable water treatment processes will be required. Some familiarity with mechanical, hydraulic, and/or chemical systems would be a plus and a willingness to be trained on and to work on these systems will be required.

Due to the fact that the plant produces all of the potable water for the island, the position requires being on call for periods of time in order to be available to keep the plant running. Sometimes, this requires working nights, weekends and holidays.

Must have ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with plant operators, laborers, clients, managers, vendors and design/project engineers of various cultures and capabilities.
