Electrical Engineer

TITLE: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Provides lighting and power systems for new construction and/or renovation of industrial or commercial structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes. Provide the engineering to develop the construction documents for the installation, interconnection and control of electrical and mechanical components.  MUST HAVE experience with an architectural firm.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:Possess / demonstrate the engineering knowledge and understanding to design or analyze electrical systems for the installation, interconnection, and control of electrical and mechanical components using applicable codes. This includes lighting & power distribution systems, data and fire alarm systems, sizing of equipment, etc.Possess / demonstrate the engineering knowledge and understanding to design or analyze engineered equipment, i.e., substation mechanical equipment & systems integration.Possess / demonstrate the ability to review and/or establish project scope, electrical budget, design approach, and applicable constraints with the Project Manager or client as appropriate.Possess / demonstrate the ability to adhere to project quality, budget, and schedule.Possess / demonstrate the ability to prepare feasibility studies and schematic design packages of lighting, power systems, etc.Possess / demonstrate the graphic ability to produce construction documents per company standards whether presenting mark-ups to CAD drafter or performing CAD drafting.Possess / demonstrate the communication skills to work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents Possess / demonstrate the ability to edit or draft project specifications.Possess / demonstrate the ability to develop and mentor less experienced staff. .  Possess / demonstrate the ability to develop accurate project cost estimates.

 

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Conduct field measuring and checking at the construction site.Maintains organized project file containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.With assistance edits project specifications.Review project submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformance.Performs other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIROMENT:Occasional climbing, lifting. Carrying, and crawling required.While performing duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.

EDUCATION:

1.  B.S.E.E. or related degree.

2.  Professional Registration in Michigan

EXPERIENCE:

1. 5 plus years related and progressively more responsible experience in electrical engineering field.

TRAINING:

1. Intermediate Autocad and / or Microstation, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Intranet, Engineering software for power and lighting, design knowledge of power and lighting, team leadership.
