Designer

Position Overview

The Designer’s primary role is to produce graphic and/or digital solutions to address visual communications needs.  The Designer must have the proven ability to translate marketing strategies, project parameters and a thorough understanding of design into appealing comprehensive concepts that communicate the desired message to the target audience. The Designer draws on key design principles and practices to compose with illustrative, photographic and typographic materials in a usable, appropriate manner. The Designer must be able to share the rationale for design decisions to team members, clients and vendors in an engaging way.

 Essential Job FunctionsProduce visual communications in a timely manner for promotions, ads packaging, signage, basic websites, informational materials and moreConceptual thinking; play an active role in brainstorming and ideationEngage and communicate effectively with clients to translate ideas into effective and appropriate visual communications

Education / Experience / Training4+ years work experience in fieldBachelor’s Degree in Design Art or a related field preferredKnowledge of layout principles, aesthetic design concepts, branding, typography and color theoryProficient in current CS3 Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Quark X-press, In-DesignAn understanding of new media, animation, sound, text and video is a plusProficient knowledge of Flexography is required
