Architecture Research/Biotechnology Sector Leader

In our multidisciplinary, team-based environment, collaboration is key among a talented group of architects, project managers, interior designers, planners and technologists, who work together to create innovative and integrated solutions for a wide range of clients. Our services include architecture, interior design, and planning for a wide variety of sectors. Responsibilities: Responsible for all aspects of the Research/Biotech Sector including maintaining existing client relationships, building new client relationships, targeting and winning new work and endeavoring to ensure there is a consistent stream of repeat work. Providing leadership and mentoring as needed to consistently achieve design excellence and profitability. Ensures work is routinely of the highest quality artistically, functionally and fiscally. Represents the firm as a knowledge leader at symposia, conferences and similar external functions. Conversant in and passionate about trends in Research/Biotech design and how these trends are influencing Research/Biotech design. Works with the Principal-in-Charge (PIC) and Project Manager (PM) on individual projects to set project goals and ensure project success. Participates in a range of strategic leadership activities to help define the firm's mission and ensure its recognition as pre-eminent in the US (and International) Research/Biotech Market. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited architecture school with a minimum of fifteen years diverse experience with an increasing level of responsibility in Research/Biotech design (architecture) office. Architectural license required (California preferred but not necessary). NCARB certificate preferred but not required. Sustainable Project experience or LEED Certification preferred. A thorough knowledge of general architectural practice with extensive experience in all areas/phases of Research/Biotech work, including master plans; marketing, proposal preparation and client relations. Substantial and varied experience involving programming, planning and design of complex projects. Experience in all aspects of project design and management. This is a Principal Level or Principal Track appointment contingent upon level of experience and qualifications. This is a unique opportunity to personally influence the development of an international design firm's US Research/Biotech practice. Accountability: Accountable to: Profit Center Practice Leader (PCPL). The PC is San Francisco. Accountable for: Initially for the overall growth and success of the Research/Biotech Sector regionally and, thereafter, nationally.
