Our client, a reputable Architectural firm recognized in the Top 50 U.S. firms for revenue last year, is seeking a Architectural Specifications Writer for a Direct- Hire position with the following: 5+ years of experience writing specifications for the architectural profession and the construction industry.Licensed architectCSI membershipLEED accreditation
 

Duties

 

The Architectural Specifications Writer’s responsibilities include:


Obtain and review the Owner-A/E agreement to understand the A/E’s role and responsibility for construction documents, bidding or negotiation, and contract administration phases. The specifications and the conditions of the contract should not require A/E services that have not been included in the agreement. Request information from the owner for the type of construction contract, insurance and bonds needed.Determine whether special testing and inspection services will be required and who will contract and pay for these services. Review the proposed agreement between the owner and the contractor to understand the role of these parties during construction.Review the proposed general conditions of the contract to understand the roles and responsibilities of A/E, owner, and contractor during construction.Prepare the supplementary conditions to modify the general conditions to satisfy the specific requirements of the agreement.Prepare Division 01 – General Requirements coordinated with the project requirements and the requirements of the agreements and the conditions of the contract. Send the proposed conditions of the contract and Division 01 to the owner and consultants for review. The consultants need to know the information in these documents, in order to, properly coordinate their documents without duplication or omission. Prepare the project specifications, Division 02-49, based on the project requirements.Decide about materials, equipment, and methods. Develop specifications or edit master guide sections. Prepare or assemble other written procurement documents. Obtain owner furnished instructions for procurement, procurement forms, and bid security forms. Provide proper coordination. Coordinate graphic and written construction documents. Identify requirements from other sources such as regulatory agencies.Review checklist of code requirements and local conditions. After final review, reproduce the project manual for distribution.
