Architectural Lighting Engineer

R&D Company in Denver CO is seeking a talented Lighting Design Engineer to work for our engineering group. Our prototyping is mostly done in house with small run manufacturing capabilities. We are seeking an individual with the following background and capabilities: REQUIREMENTS • 1-5 years of experience  • Must have a BS in Architectural Engineering with Lighting Emphasis or the equivalent "Lighting" experience • Optical design software doing reflector design and layout (** KEY **) • Absolute essential ability to work independently or as part of a team • Hands on ability to conceptualize and fabricate / assemble / test feasibility models and prototypes. • Some understanding of electro-mechanical design  • Working knowledge of lighting design fundamentals • Must be organized and able to multi task • Some experience reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical specifications • Must be hands-on engineer DUTIES • Design, develop and test prototype models in order to test design concepts • Calculate and simulate products before manufacturing • Interface with customers, suppliers and external consultants as required • Develop, document and maintain product / project quality service records documentation • Perform final testing on entire system or components • Understand and meet production and project schedule deadlines without sacrificing quality SUPERVISION • Director of Engineering SOFTWARE • AGI or comparable software experience. • Photopia or comparable software experience. • Microsoft Office Suite • Microsoft Project QUALIFICATIONS • Some product development background • Understanding of DFMA practices • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written • Fabrication background desired • Understanding of mechanical & electrical engineering basics • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. • Work environment ranges from an office environment to engineering lab and production floor environments.
