Tree Surgeon (Arborist)

This position performs skilled labor in connection with grounds maintenance or construction.  The primary function of this position is to maintain and trim trees and shrubs of various heights to promote their health and appearance.

 

Four years of work experience in the maintenance of gardens, lawns, shrubs, or trees, two of which were in the care and treatment of shrubs and trees is required.  A bachelor’s degree in forestry, horticulture, biology, or related field with an additional two years of related work experience is preferred.  A thorough knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in trimming, shaping, cultivating, and caring for trees and shrubs; and, general knowledge of different species of trees and their growing characteristics as related to pruning and shaping methods is essential.

 

Starting salary:  $16.96 per hour
