Senior Auditor

Overview:

While maintaining focus on adding value to the business and developing opportunities to improve operating processes, this position is responsible for planning and performing operational audits. The internal auditor evaluates the control environment and communicates control weaknesses and improvement opportunities to Management.

 

This position receives exposure to overall company operations in North America (USA, Canada and Mexico) and to Bunge Limited’s worldwide operations and, therefore, is viewed by the company as an important part of the Company’s program to train and develop future leaders.

 

Essential Functions:

Working with a team of professionals based in St. Louis, Missouri and Oakville, Ontario, Canada, the Internal Audit Department examines and evaluates the adequacy, effectiveness, efficiency and quality of North America's system of internal controls.

The scope includes:

· Evaluate operational and business controls for effectiveness and efficiency and report control weaknesses and improvement opportunities to Management

· Review the reliability and integrity of operating and information technology systems and the means used to identify, measure, classify and report information generated from those systems

· Review and appraise the economy and efficiency of deployment of Company resources

· Examine processes established to ensure compliance with policies, plans, procedures, laws and regulations, having a significant impact on operations and reports

· Review the means of safeguarding assets and, as appropriate, verifying that they exist

· Assist the Audit Manager and assume responsibility as auditor-in-charge to execute the Annual Audit Plan approved by the Bunge Limited Audit Committee

· Evaluate and recommend internal control and process improvements

· Perform operational, information systems and financial testing

· Discuss findings with local management

· Prepare a formal report with action plans to Executive Management and the Audit Committee

· Follow up on audit action plans

· Plan, direct and review audit assignments and other projects independent of immediate supervision

· Supervise audit staff as the auditor-in-charge on department audit assignments and projects

· Assist staff with skill development in auditing principles, ACL, project management, etc

· Assume personal responsibility for self-development through the internal audit assignments, interaction with Management, formal training activities and personal study

· Perform specific assignments based upon Audit and Company Management's requests, normally involving analysis and reporting upon a problem identified by Company Management

· Maintain professional certifications through continuous training

 

Skill/Experience Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or Economics required, MBA preferred

· CPA, CA, CIA, CISA  – certified or willingness to obtain certification

· Three to seven years of public accounting and/or internal auditing or related experience

· Experience and interest in information technology auditing

· Ability to work independently and take initiative on department projects and objectives

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Agribusiness knowledge preferred

· SAP experience and ACL (Audit Command Language) competency preferred

· Willingness to travel (approximately 40%) within North America, with limited travel to Latin America, Europe and Asia
