Fish & Wildlife Biologist
Absolute Natural Resources, LLC (ANR) is a professional environmental consulting firm with offices in Arvada and Windsor, Colorado. ANR is partnered with Cabela’s Trophy Properties, LLC (CTP) as a lake mapping and wildlife habitat services provider in the Rocky Mountain and Great Plains regions.

ANR provides fish and wildlife management, pond and lake maintenance, and wetland and ecological assessment services to a diverse clientele throughout the Western and Midwestern United States.  ANR is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to fill a Fish & Wildlife Biologist position in our Windsor, Colorado office. The successful candidate will also be expected to conduct duties in our Arvada, Colorado office from time to time.

Position Title:Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Fish & Wildlife Biologist
Â
Overview:                   The Fish & Wildlife Biologist will work under the direct supervision of the company’s Project Manager.  Work assignments will vary depending upon different project types, but will primarily include the coordination, supervision and completion of natural resource surveys and management plans; coordination and supervision of regional pond and lake maintenance accounts; and development of aquatic and terrestrial habitat improvement plans. Other responsibilities include:
 Frequent communication with clients; Preparation of professional technical reports and proposals; Completion of extensive data analyses, including ecological modeling and statistical inferences; Coordination and attendance of trade shows and seminars; Supervision and evaluation of subordinate employees; Coordination with CTP habitat services partners and organizations; Consultation with regulatory agencies in reference to project monitoring and permit acquisition processes; Development and maintenance of company’s overall growth by conducting sales calls and preparing project proposals; and Performing laboratory analyses for water quality, algae, benthic invertebrate, soil and plant samples (all laboratory duties are performed at our Arvada office).

Qualifications:           This position requires a minimum of a MS degree in fishery and wildlife biology or related field, plus one year of professional experience. Must be able to work independently (often under adverse weather conditions and in remote areas) and effectively supervise others. Must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of aquatic and terrestrial ecology and possess strong verbal and written communication skills. Successful candidate must also be willing to travel out of state for extended time periods. A valid Colorado driver’s license with good record is required.

Knowledge and experience in the following areas are essential:
 Fish and wildlife species identification; Fish and wildlife inventory methodologies and management techniques; Terrestrial vegetation assessment and habitat classification; Aquatic and terrestrial habitat enhancement techniques; Wetland determination and delineation methodologies; and Familiarity with regulatory compliance and permitting (i.e., NEPA, ESA and CWA).
Candidates possessing the following skills are preferred:
 Strong attention to detail; Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication abilities; Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Strong problem solving, technical writing, and statistical analysis and interpretation; Proficient time management skills to complete multiple tasks under tight deadlines; Familiarity with GPS and GIS applications; Ability to supervise subordinates effectively, yet maintain professional working relationships with other employees; Ability to perform physical requirements of the position, including heavy lifting, boating, hiking, digging, etc.; Proficiency with operation of boats, 4x4 vehicles, ATVs,  and trailer towing; Knowledge of and certification for First Aid and CPR; Knowledge and practice of outdoor safety (e.g., must complete a Colorado boat safety course); and Ability and willingness to travel between Arvada and Windsor, Colorado on a frequent basis.
Examination:              ANR administers in-house examinations to evaluate potential candidates and existing employees. In general, these exams cover fish and wildlife management, wetland science, limnology, stream ecology, mathematics and statistics, GPS/GIS principles, and benthic invertebrate and plant taxonomy aspects. All candidates selected for interview will be required to complete our Level II exam (i.e., our exam for an assistant biologist position) at the time of interview; solely for the purpose of evaluation. Successful candidate will be required to take and pass our Level III exam (i.e., the exam for this position) within 30 days after hire.

Background Review:                              Due to ANR’s ongoing work with a number of clients, and because some of which require background reviews for each ANR employee working on certain sites, we require that the successful candidate agree to and successfully take a personal background review. This requirement is necessary to acquire security access to a number of project sites.
