ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER

We seek an ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER who will responsible for creating, supporting and maintaining compliance programs as part of the Luling Plant Environmental Engineering Team.

In this role the candidate will oversee the following responsibilities: Review and interpret complex environmental regulations and accurately applying environmental engineering principles to plant operations Prepare permit applications and negotiate with regulators to provide maximum flexibility for plant operations Develop systems and methods as required to implement and demonstrate compliance with permits and regulations Complete and submit accurate and timely regulatory reports and agency correspondence Manage day-to-day environmental compliance issues and working with site personnel to support plant questions, needs, and training efforts Anticipate new regulations and minimize their impact through cost-effective solutions Serve as a technical resource to the site on environmental issues (including occasional off-hours support) Oversee air permit compliance, water discharge compliance, release reporting, waste management regulations and deepwell compliance.

Experience - External: B.S. and/or M.S. in an engineering or other applicable science. 3 years experience in Environmental, Safety or Health Regulatory field. Excellent communications skills, both oral and written as well as previous experience in dealing with regulators Strong decision-making and problem solving skills with little supervision Self directed, motivated, and able to gather relevant information Demonstrates the ability to lead projects, assignments and/or teams Flexible and able to respond quickly to changing job demands and prioritize multiple responsibilities Ability to work as an individual contributor and as part of a diverse team composed of fellow engineers, operations personnel, and leadership. Computer proficiency in Windows based programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
