Director of Cultural Resources - Senior Archaeologist
Our Cultural Resources Team completes large, complex Class III survey projects, archaeological monitoring, extent and NRHP eligibility testing, and complex data recovery projects. Director of Cultural Resources/Senior Archaeologist - Logan Simpson Design has a position open in our Tempe, AZ office for a Director of Cultural Resources. The ideal candidate will have the ability to achieve efficient, profitable, timely, and technically excellent performance from the cultural team through effective leadership, mentoring, training, and supervision. Individual must be able to demonstrate success in a management position while having frequent client and agency contact in a decision-making role. Education/Experience Requirements: n Must have at least a Masters degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Anthropology or related field with twelve or more years of Southwestern archaeology consulting or agency experience or equivalent combination.n Must have a minimum of 4 years of management or supervisory experience in a Cultural setting.n Excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and public speaking skillsn Must meet the Secretary of the Interior Standards (36 CFR 61) in archaeology.n Must have experience applying the Section 106 process to a wide variety of projects, as well as knowledge of other federal, state, and local historic preservation laws. Essential Duties: n Supervises Project Managers and acts as a technical resource for team members .n Manages team work flow, overall schedule, resource needs, and team member utilization .n Manages and mentors the technical and professional development of team members. n Approves all scopes of work and fees not prepared by service line Project Principal.n Manages team profitability to meet target profitability.n Implements firm and team strategic plan.n Develops and implements technical procedures (like QC) within team. n Administers firm employment and administrative policies and procedures within team, including approval of all team member time off and work schedules, and manages team member compliance.n Approves team-related budget expenditures.n Manages team member morale and satisfaction. n Leads and participates in performance evaluations.
