We produce customized fertilizers and soil products from agricultural and green waste to satisfy a wide range of end markets including organic farming, environmental land repair and non-residential green space. With unique technologies utilizing gas turbine energy neutral manufacturing and power generation, the Company’s first eco-friendly manufacturing facility, located in the Strathmore, Alberta, Canada area is operational – producing our unique products and generating commercial electricity. 

The Position

Currently working with the Chief Operating Officer and as a member of the leadership team, the Director, Engineering plays a key role in setting the engineering and operating strategy and direction for EarthRenew in all operating jurisdictions.  These strategies ensure the organization’s long-term success and are aimed to achieve the organization’s operational growth, as well as the targets in sales and market share within EarthRenew’s vast target markets.

Principal Accountabilities:

The Director, Engineering is accountable for the planning and execution of all engineering work associated with EarthRenew units.   This work may be performed by in-house engineering staff or through the effective management of external engineering partners.  This position is the key executive responsible for ensuring that engineering design and equipment operability objectives are met, both in terms of expected productivity and operating performance.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Contribute in setting the future strategy and operating direction for the organization as a member of EarthRenew’s leadership team. Ensure that unit engineering design, construction and commissioning activities can achieve the company’s operational strategy. Oversee the direction of all engineering activities within EarthRenew. Work collaboratively and effectively with the Operations lead to ensure the ongoing operating capability of the EarthRenew units can be maintained from an engineering perspective.  Manage the engineering relationships with key engineering contractor partners.  Represent EarthRenew’s interests in negotiating and managing the engineering components of our contractual relationships with strategic partners and service providers including contract management.                                                                                                                                                                Staff, orient, train and provide leadership for all engineering disciplines (controls and instrumentation, process mechanical, process design, project management, electrical,  power, civil and structural). Evaluate and develop improved techniques for the control of equipment/product designs, quality, reliability and safety. Work effectively with service providers/vendors/strategic partners to ensure equipment conforms to company requirements. Plan, maintain and monitor budgets, ensuring effective cost controls are in place. Develop, implement and maintain engineering procedures to ensure standards of quality, reliability and safety in equipment design and applications including document control for all engineering drawings and related parts/equipment/tools.

 

The Individual

You have demonstrated success in developing and managing teams of engineering personnel.  In addition to an Engineering degree this position requires at least 15 years of progressive management and operating experience preferably gained in the power, manufacturing, agriculture or oil and gas sectors.  You have the demonstrated ability to interact with partner companies and stakeholders. You have a reputation for results, collaboration and project leadership/execution. You identify with accountability and the demands of growing organization including periodic travel. Acquired experience in an area of  food processing or a feed mill  environment would be an asset.

The Location

You will be based in our Fresno, California regional offices with periodic travel required to other EarthRenew offices, host site and service provider locations. Our orientation process  may include company sponsored  training in our Calgary and/or at Strathmore, Alberta Canada host site locations for up to 4 weeks and, as a result, you are required to hold and maintain a valid passport and driver’s license while having no restrictions on your ability to work outside of the U.S.A.
