The Challenge:

 

Once again, Isuzu has delivered an impressive product line of diesel engines to meet the needs of its North American customers.  Customers have integrated our new EPA tier III certified electronic engines into their products.  Due to the addition of this product line, we have an immediate need for an Applications Engineer that is capable of ensuring that our off-highway diesel engines exceed Isuzu’s standards and the expectations of our customers.  If you are ready to accept this challenge, then we would like to speak with you about this exciting opportunity based out of our Plymouth, MI technical center.

 

Responsibilities:

 

· Performs engine installation checks and works with Isuzu Powertrain sales and prospective OEM customers to ensure the engine application meets or exceeds Isuzu’s standards while meeting OEM customer requests

· Provides engineering technical support to Isuzu Powertrain distributors and OEM customers

· Acts as Project Manager for the design and application of Isuzu engine power units, engine accessories and other installation/mounting components

· Provides service support for application-related failures and performance issues

· Ensures proper documentation of all engineering-related activities

· Reports to the Director of Sales Engineering and Service

 

Required Qualifications and Abilities:

 

· Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

· Minimum of five years experience working for an engine manufacturer, engine distributor, engine/powertrain development facility, or related entity

· CAD (Pro-E) training with the capability of producing mounting/ fixing/ bracketry components

· Some experience with diesel engine applications

· Understanding of engine-related software (ECM/ECU), engine electronics (OBD II, SAE J1939 and CAN BUS protocol), and Automotive or Industrial engine development (Electronic controls)

· Excellent communication skills and proficiency in the use of MS Windows applications

· Ability to work independently for long periods of time

· Available to travel up to 50% of the time in North America
