Value Engineering Technology Lead
Honeywell*Primary Location can be Phoenix, Tucson, Minneapolis, Albuquerque, Redmond, Toronto, Glendale, Clearwater, Olathe, Coon Rapids, Urbana, or Sarasota The Aerospace Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) organization is responsible to partner with Engineering, Marketing & Product Management, Sourcing, and Operations to drive value engineering and new product development initiatives into Aerospace products and services. This posting is for an AME Electrical Value Engineering (VE) CCA Commodity / Technology Lead, who will support VE initiatives and report to the AME Electrical Commodity VE Manager. Responsibilities include:- Leading VE and strategic cost-out projects on multiple Aerospace products, focused on growing the VE project pipeline that spans multiple product groups, including Integrated Avionics, Crew Interface, Safety Information, Lighting, Navigation/Sensors, Flight Controls, Electronic Engine Controls, and APU.- Driving cost take out initiatives through product deep dives and supplier workshops, as well as driving ideas into project execution by formulating project proposals (cost-benefit analyses), with a focus on Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs, also referred to as Printed Board Assemblies, PBAs) and Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs, or PBs)- Acting as a focal for business driven cost-out initiatives and strategies. - Creating and utilizing strong internal linkages with M&PM, engineering, operations, and sourcing. - Providing technical support to current VE projects in execution to improve product cost, producibilty, and yield, in order to achieve Aerospace VE AOP commitments. - Deploying the VE process and ensuring consistent deployment across Aero sites with electrical commodities. Attributes and Skills Required: - Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing project plans- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated industrial experience and ability to solve complex technical problems, especially with CCA Commodities (Design for Excellence, DFX)- Familiarity with all industry standards that impact DFM and VE – IPC610, IPC7351). - Must be a US citizen, as a majority of projects will relate to ITAR and Export Control Aerospace products- Strong leadership and influencing skills to drive results in a highly matrixed organization - Excellent program management skills with the ability to close initiatives on time and within budget- Self-driven with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple project/programs with limited and shared resources - Technical acumen to effectively interface with customers, suppliers, engineering, integrated supply chain and program management- Depth of knowledge in both Engineering, Manufacturing and Supplier Quality - Ability to apply sound judgment to complex program/business issues - Able to deploy process improvements- Able to deploy and manage to metrics - Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate project status and program needs across different levels of the organization and different operating environments.-Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills in a team environment across multiple sites in matrix reporting structure - Results focused with successful record of accomplishments through skilled use of influence, persuasion, negotiation, and problem resolution- Strong analytical skills- Excellent computer skills including Excel and MS Project - Understanding of Honeywell product lines, engineering processes, and test systems that support Electrical Product Centers a plus- Must be able to travel internationally and domestically up to 25%. Experience/Education Required:- BS Engineering. In lieu of a degree, 10+ years of Engineering, Program Management or Integrated Supply Chain experience with at least 5 years of experience in VE related projects.- Must be knowledgeable with Project Management, PMP certification is a plus- Six Sigma, DFSS or Lean certification required.
